MAR is seeking a Chief Executive Officer


The Montana Association of REALTORS® (MAR) seeks a full-time Chief Executive Officer.  This position offers a unique opportunity to represent and support the REALTOR® profession in the state of Montana in partnership with the Board, members, and our affiliates.  The position involves a variety of dynamic and challenging responsibilities including:

  • Delivering of all programs, products and services and the effective overall daily operation of MAR.
  • Coordinating the development, implementation, and updating of the strategic plan to ensure compliance with bylaws, policies, and Board directives.
  • Establishing and administrating MAR budget and policies.
  • Overseeing programs and ensuring efficient organizational administration.
  • Supervising a small office of professional staff members, additional staff, and contractors.
  • Supporting the Board and various committees.
  • Overseeing and coordinating advocacy efforts and political action committee.
  • Advancing the public policy philosophy and activities of MAR.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of REALTOR® professional development and continuing education programs.
  • Coordinating volunteer leadership and managing a dynamic membership-driven organization.
  • Communicating the REALTOR® profession with over 4,800 members and the public.

The position requires knowledge of program management, business administration, planning, communication, policy development and administration, outreach, public relations, budget management, and supervision. Requires a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, management, or a related field, and three (3) years management experience in a membership-driven organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in managing a small office, a budget of at least $750K, and an understanding of the nuances of a non-profit organization is preferred.

The position is in Helena, the state capital of Montana.  Helena offers theaters, museums, fairs, rodeos, premier health care, a high-quality educational system, and many recreational opportunities. Located near the Missouri River and the Rocky Mountains, Helena's mountains,  rivers, and lakes provide year-round opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing, camping, boating, hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling can be accessed within minutes of Helena while the downtown provides access to more than 75 miles of hiking, running, and biking trails.

The starting salary is $125,000 - $145,000 depending on qualifications, with the opportunities for bonuses based on individual and organizational performance and financials. MAR is offering relocation assistance.
