ADVOCACY

 

Advocacy is the cornerstone of MAR's member benefits.

Our commitment to advocacy goes beyond just our presence at the Capitol during the Legislative Session every other year—it's a year-round endeavor!

MAR’s Government Affairs team collaborates with a diverse range of coalition partners (Montana Building Industry Association, Montana Chamber of Commerce, Montana Water Well Drillers Association, and many others), to stay ahead of proposed legislation, fend off harmful Constitutional Initiatives, such as CI-121, that threaten the real estate industry. We testified before the 2025 Legislature on exempt wells and property tax bills, and supported solutions to ensure that Montana remains open to responsible development.

We work with the Board of Realty Regulation to clarify and enhance statutes that protect MAR Members and their clients (methamphetamine disclosure, updates to Montana Residential Landlord Tenant Act approved during the 2021 Legislature), and we endorse candidates who support property owners and the real estate industry.

Much of our advocacy work occurs behind the scenes, yet its impact is seen throughout the real estate industry, influencing how our members conduct their business.

The Hotline will assist callers with questions related to real estate transactions. Some of these question include, but are not limited to; business relationships, compensation/fees, disclosure, earnest money, landlord/tenant, MAR Forms and trust accounts.

The Hotline will not answer questions involving personal or unique business and/or company and corporate matters.

Please work with the Designated REALTOR® in your office if you need guidance from the MAR Legal Hotline.

MAR Forms

Real Estate Transaction Forms is hands down, the most important member benefit that MAR provides.

MAR maintains an extensive library of transaction forms that are provided through Transaction Desk and Zip Form. MAR also licenses our forms to the following vendors; Dot Loop, Docusign, and Skyslope.

MAR members are able to access their Forms directly through the MAR Member Portal of the MAR website. These forms are available on Transaction Desk and Zip Forms.

The Real Estate Transaction Forms are updated regularly to comply with State and Federal laws. And if you have any questions regarding the transaction forms, we have an extensive list of Frequently Asked Questions, broken down into categories, where you can find information on a multitude of forms and transaction topics.
